fc is not starting

i own a 88 gxl non turbo
when i turn the key the motor does not turn and the power goes off completely.
i dont hear the starter or n e thing.
can n e help?

check your battery connections and battery voltage..

also check to see if you can hear a clicking noise close to the firewall on the driver side when you turn the key from off to accesories
