FC new front strut tops

Hi everyone, I have reviewed the previous posts to see who has replaced their front strut top mounting plates when they replace struts and springs.
Several mentioned adjustable ones be installed so that the camber can be adjusted but not because of the original being worn out.

I did not see any posts that says whether replacing these struts top plates is something you must do or whether there is a way to examine or test whether the bearing inside etc is still ok.
I spoke to the local dealer here in town and the parts guy who has been there almost 20 years has said he has never seen anyone replace these top plates on 2nd Gen RX-7.

They are approx 80 Dollars Canadian and the rubber boot about 35 bucks each. I see Mazdatrix is selling them for 83 USD each so it is actually cheaper for me to pick them up locally.
Anyone else have a cheaper solution if I should replace them ?

The struts and springs are way overdue to be replaced since I have about 130, 000 miles on the odometer on my 1989 GX RX-7.

Thank you
Paul

It is not required, but would be good to do, especially on a high milage car. If you have a poping noise or any sort of noise when turning under low speed, i would definetly replace them. Other wise, the old ones will do fine.

I know of autocrossers who have, but they have also replaced ALL the bushings related to suspension. Predominantly because they are running in a stock class. Mine have been replaced with adjustable plates. For both reason...more choice in setup and the old ones were OLD!!!

Thank you for the replies.

I like the idea of replacing the strut tops with adjustable ones. Corksport has a set I think made by Cusco.

Which ones did you get and where from ?

I replaced them. You can get them at an auto parts store, I went to Advance. Don't bother with OEM.
