ok, about the whole turbo thing, I asked my insurance company a few questions about modding my car, since everyone there used to or still owns one and the guy I talked to said that no matter what I do to my car it will not be more expensive to insure. The reason is that since so many people do work to these cars that they just charge a lot to begin with and won't raise it, even if I put a big *** turbo on my current n/a. This is with State Farm though, your's may be different.

PS: keep reciepts for ANYTHING you put on your car or you will not get that money back in case of an accident.

insurance right now is 66 bucks a month for my old *** broken pos 626 and when I add my rx7 its going to go up to 100 bucks so I'm guessing 40 bucks a month is pretty cheap for a turbo II

Insurance seems to be all over the place...

On mine, it's $150 every 6 months liability only coverage. My insurance agent said liability would be the same no matter what car I could possibly own. On the other hand, they wanted $1000 every 6 months for collision. Considering they value the car at maybe 3k, no thanks.

Christ...I've been trying to find out what my insurance would be like if I got a Turbo II in July. This is outrageous

My stats:
18 years old
2 years driving
No tickets
No accidents

Both Geico, Nationwide (what we have), and AllState quoted me ranging from $1400-$2000 every 6 months. Gave me about the same range for if I was the primary driver on my parents insurance...$4000 a year...that's about the price of the goddamn car! Currently, my Honda's premiums are roughly $400 every 6 months. God, I guess insurance agencies hate the words "Male," "Coupe," and "Turbo"...

I'm 22, and with Geico in VA I pay $131 a month on my 87 N/A. I'm taking that off for an 89 TII soon. Thing is, I have 2 regular speeding tickets and one racing ticket, an HOV violation, and a parking ticket (yes they count that). Never been in an accident though. I haven't had any tickets in 2 years though...hopefully the rate goes down even more soon. My advice...JUST DONT GET TICKETS.

The convertible rates are always the highest, while turbo and non-turbo coupes are almost always the same rate as each other. Every insurance company uses different data in determining their rates (location, mileage, color, etc.), so you need to call around. Also, you may want to consider getting just basic PIP insurance, as full coverage is not going to be worth the money unless you are pretty sure you will total the car within a year.

Reason?
Turbo II. Insurance hates turbo
Insurance hates sportscars and young male drivers, not necessarily the Turbo II. You guys who are concerned about the turbo rates need to get a quote for an NA, and see if there is any difference. If they want a VIN for the quote, just give them the same VIN as your TurboII, but change the number after the FC33 from 2 to 1. Maybe your quotes will be different, but my 84 NA, 88 NA coupe, and 88 TII have always had exactly the same rate with State Farm, Progressive, and USAA.
