FC FMIC Throttle Adaptor

Hey guys, I hope this isn't a repost but I have seen a bunch of people (including myself) looking for a throttle adaptor for the FC similar to the one in the Greddy kit. I was just looking around the Aerodyne site (www.aerodyne.net) and found one. Go to the site, click on "Products" on the top, then FEED, then FC3S, then click the FEED logo. About 1/3 of the way down the page there is a part that says "Throttle adaptor" and looks like the piece from the greddy kit. This might make some people's lives a little easier.

I am not understanding the pricing on this. Could someone local give them a call to verify?

Don't fret guys, we're still working on making those GReddy copies. The initial prototype didn't quite come out right, so they are changing the process as we speak. Hopefully we'll get a good unit made within a week and also pics...

Sorry man, it's out of my control right now. I've knee deep in Haltech installs, and I leave CZ in two days - actually more like one day, since I leave early Thursday morning. hIGGI is taking care of them, so hopefully we'll get quick updates soon.

I talked to HKS and they will sell the adpater by itself, but it is not a public knowlege. I just told them I boke the one from my kit (which I never owned) and they gave me a in house part number. #17341-207188
$235.00 retail, but dealers would of course be less than that, and HKS will not sell direct. So that is one route to go. Oh yeah they also told me that no shop would have a listing for the part, but to tell them that you spoke to HKS directly for the number.

Ted, do you guys have a size spec. on the inlet yet? Also, what are the odds of having one for sale by the 11th of November?

Check out guru racing, the australian shop that was at sevenstock. They sell a metal adaptor for 100.00 and at sevenstock he said that they would have a plastic adapter in a couple weeks that would only run about 30 US dollars. I know it doesn't show the piece on there website but I saw them in person at Sevenstock.

you talked with HKS or greddy?? the HKS one is very strange and is most likley useless without the kit.

It's basically a copy of the GReddy unit, but the bung will be redone, cause theirs one SUCKS; it hides the stock AIT sensor, so the readings will not be accurate. We're redoing the bung, so the AIT sensor will be better exposed - yeah, interference with airflow, but that's the trade-off.

As far as I know, the OD will be 70mm - same as the GReddy ones, so it'll fit a 3" ID hose no problem. It'll be cast aluminum, and it's the same basic shape and finish as the GReddy units.

We're trying to hit the target of $100 each, so they are reasonable. I believe the Guru unit is a nasty welded mild steel piece? Plastic? Now that scares me...

You guys obviously don't realise how strong some plastics are, especially with a wall thickness the same as a cast aluminium piece.

I have looked into getting one machined with a 2.5 inch inlet, and it would be machined aluminium is looking arround 150.00CND ! so I don't know why these are costing soo much! there is alot of profit to be mad there! The one i have desinged I would gladly give the cads so someone could have them machined themselves!

that is when i get it stress tested and put on the flow bench and see how she reacts and can guarantee that the plans are sound then I will give out the cads, but not before. Just wanted to make that clear!
ID could also be very easily changed, I am thining of making it 3"

The Guru one is cast, I want to say aluminum but don't really remember what it felt like. I would say that it was the same material as the stock piece that attaches to the throttle body, and it had the same finish and texture. It just comes straight off the tb though and doesn't have that slight angle like the greddy one to clear the oil filler tube. They didn't have the plastic one there. For 100 bucks though I would go with the piece you guys are making I think it sounds to be of better design.

Sure, if we're talking about high-tech thermoplastics, I wouldn't doubt it. Do you want to hazard a guess how much something like that costs??? Yes, it's more than a cast aluminum piece. So, sure, I'll be willing to look into costs of a plastic piece, but are you willing to pay $300+ (it's my WAG on pricing) for one if I can get the aluminum piece made for $100 or less???

Yeah, I thought not...

I'd be happy to buy a bunch for that price. Can you make a run of at least 10 units and ship it to me for that price?

It costs us several hundred dollars for the mold for the cast aluminum pieces. This is something we have to amortalize over the estimated unit run (< 100 pieces usually), and then figure in R&D costs and other expenditures for such a project. This is not something we asked some shop to produce for us - it's a business. If you're willing to sell these pieces to FC owners, then go for it. I'm sure the FC guys would gladly welcome such options.
