FC feels faster cold?
I dunno if its just me... or my clutch, or my cold cat,.... but my car feels faster when its cold. Once it reaches it operating temperature it feels a tiny bit slower. Anyone experience the same feeling?
Might have something to do with compression??
When everything is cold its tight which = good compression. Once it starts to heat up everything loosen's up hence little loss in compression.
Not sure if this is why, just taking a guess..

I always thought that you got better compression once the car was warmed up. The oil is warmed up so the engine is better lubricated thus making a better seal, giving you higher compression.
Um... how many RPMs are you bringing the car upto when its "cold"
You should NOT be going over 3K RPM until it reaches normal operating tempreature.
BTW... metal expands. In theory, you would have better compression when its warm.

fuel and timing maps are different until the engine warms up... one of the reasons not to beat on it until it warms up to operating temperature! (i noticed it too on my 89 GTU)

I don't take it passed 3k until its warm. It doesn't feel way slower, it just seems faster when its cold for some reason. I haven't been able to figure it out. However, I also haven't done a compression check yet.
Manifolds and what not can get heat soaked which would warm up the intake charge, that can make a noticable difference. Hence why so many ppl make cold air intakes for there car when they switch to a cone filter, it does jack picking up warm air from under the hood.

Just fab up a nice box that shields the filter from engine heat, and draws in cold air, you can do a search for CAI "cold air box" and find some of the awsome threads that ppl have wrote.
