So far, i like the pricing im hearin about the kit... but u mentioned the price for each part.... how much is it gonna cost as a kit? and that person is right about the $500 spoiler, although from what im figuring, if this is gonna be the kit that beats all kits then i think that the spoiler is gonna be looking realllllllllllllllll good. how about just buy all the parts and then get the discount for the spoiler so that u can say "i got this phat spoiler for 200 bonez" lol. Bein da poor bastard that i am, i hope i got the money enough to put on a pre-order, or i can just beg my girlfriend until she gives in (yeah i kno, it could cause a disruption in the relationship) By the way, how long until he starts workin on the design and when can we start pre-ordering? Thanks alot, cant let this thing outta my head. Hope i can make it gettin this kit on Wendy's pay..... How bout i hook u up with some food and u give me da kit for cheaper? j/k im on da east coast.

I keep seeing people say, "Knightsport bumper with RE light conversion". If you look at the two, how do you expect that to work? The RE lights would be down on the ftp and blinker lenses on the Knightsport bumper. It wouldn't work. And if you ask me, those lenses are what really set that bumper apart from the rest.

But whatever you end up making, be sure that the rear bumper has room for those giant *** cannons known as Apex'i DUAL N1's.

I'm totally speculating on the prices for each piece. From what he said when we talked last about costs, he told me some rough prices, and from what I understood, those were them. But I could be off somewhere. The total cost of the kit if bought at once is $1650 though. That is for sure according to Leonard. As for the piece breakup cost wise, I'll have to get more info.

Please understand that these are not "add to stock pieces" parts. They are going to replace your whole rear bumper and the whole front bumper. That is where some of the difference is between buying a front skirt and a front bumper.

Man, you must feel fuggin smart! I never would've imagined I couldn't put the RE light conversion on the Knightsport bumper (notice the heavy sarcasm). People are saying this because we are trying to conceptualize a body kit, and people would like a COMBINATION of both. As fc3s.org posted, this is not going to be a knock off of any body kits. I personally would much rather have non pop-up headlights, than the cool Knightsport blinker thingys, but I'm sure a compromise could be made =)... Ever seen the earlier RE light kit? I also think ALOT more than the little lenses set that front apart. The LARGE mouth and brake ducts, the strong lines and nice curves, the air intake hole, the shape of the under spoiler...

Think about it =)

Understand that he won't just knock off the best parts and use them to make a kit. It isn't his style and quite frankly, it's stealing others work. He will though take the ideas from all of the most popular pieces, along with his amazing design team and make something that compliments the FC, brings it up to date with design in mind, and keeps the price range down so that people can buy it and still feed the family

Not to flame or anything, cause this kit sounds awesome, but I thought you said that the kit was going to be REASONABLY priced? And that got everone very excited. You said it was going to be "half the price of the japanese kits and 1/3 the price of the Mariah kits." 500 for a front bumper 500 for spoiler 500 for for rear and 450 for side skirts is about the same as the japanese kits. Surely not even close to half. The new knight sport kit is around the same price as you are quoting. With the front bumper only about $150.00 more expensive. Not many people can afford the jspec kits and their not going to be able to afford for this kit. FC owners have a very limited supply of kits that are even affordable, most being very dated, I hope you can help get us a resonably priced kit that looks good.

Thanks, Ed

Well, where are you buying japanese kits for $650? Take a peek through RP's site, and you see the RE Amemiya HALF bumpers for $481-$1069! Ours will be $500, and it will be a whole bumper. Take a look through these prices and explain to me where there are kits for $150 more than this. If it were true, I would have just bought one of those and never persued this avenue.

http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/2catalog.cgi?cat=5&part=2

Lets take the RE Amemiya Round Light Kit w/ Spoiler (89-91) - $2629.18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems a bit high for a bumper.

I mean, look through corksport. The same results are there as well. $1100 for a Border bumper. How did you come to the conclusion that this kit was the same price as japanese kits? Please indeed show me where this is true.

FEED Wide Body Kit $4530

RE Amemiya
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-front3.jpg - $2629.18
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-car1.jpg - $2673.75
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-d0030.jpg - $663.09
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-d0014.jpg - $641.70
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-front1.jpg - $1283.40
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-front2.jpg - $1925.10
www.rx7.com/pics/fc-amemiya-d0021.jpg - $1604.25

Knight Sports
http://www.rx7.com/pics/fc-ksheadlight.jpg - $949.95

Please keep in mind once again, that our cars are not Honduh's. They are not produced in the billions and there is little aftermarket support and volume of parts being sold due to that fact. That is why he won't sell these bumpers for like $150 like the rice ones. If you think you can get a kit like this for the same price, by all means, have at it. I have no control of price. This is his business. All I was trying to do was to get a kit that was cheaper than the japanese ones that had the same styling and curves that they have.

Cmon guys you're complaining about a 1600USD kit? Please... we all KNOW that to get the quality kits out there we'd have to go import, and we ALL know that the cost of them is insane. Remember there's shipping involved. And since they're all overseas.... *cha ching!* I for one, am GLAD that it's 1600USD. Can't wait to see some conceptuals fc3.org!

Peace,
AJ ^_^

Decent body kits are NOT cheap. Those prices are actually pretty good, if the fit and finish are worth the price. We won't know until we see the finished product.

OK, I am going to try to explain this for the last time. I am NOT in control of the prices. Those are set by Leonard, the designer and creator of this future kit. If you are upset at the prices, then all I can say is buy a j-spec kit for more than the cost of this one. I have no other suggestions for you guys. I am amazed at this complaining of price. I was in shock at how cheap this kit was going to be compared to everything else on the market.

fc3s.org has a good point about the pricing of the kit... i been trying to do mad mathematics figuring out how ima get this part of it and that part from different companies in order to make my car look phat (even though any rx-7 is great!)... and i haven't found one way to beat the price unless i move to japan and find hook ups there. And thanks for posting up the pricing of the re amemiya lights and half bumper kit for those wonderin what it was, i remember seein that price about a couple weeks ago and feelin my heart sink when i realized that a headlight conversion was outta the question. By the way, is the new kit going to include a headlight conversion by any chance? Just wondering.

Maybe I missed something, but what material are the kits going to be made from? Fiberglass? Urethane? The problem w/ urethane is the although it is flexible and forgiving, urethane will sag over time. I'm just not a big fan of urethane. Fiberglass when made properly is extremely strong and will not flex. The fitment when made w/ fiberglass has to be exact. The fiberglass kits from Japan can withstand quite a bit of abuse as compared to the cheap and thin American made kits. I'm not saying that all American made kits are made bad, but some are. I'm sure that most of you have heard of rocks shattering cheap body kits on highways. The japan made body kits are made w/ the minimal amount of fiberglass without sacrificing on strength. Is this new kit going to be made fairly strong? Fitment is also a large issue. All of the Japan kits that I have seen do not require much modification to fit the contours of the body easily. I have seen this firsthand. Also, FG is repairable.

I was thinking of exactly the same questions. my friend just got a new kit for his civic and it turned out to be urethane. Then the painter forgetting that it's urethane and not fiberglass, really really messed up when painting. The paint is starting to peel off the kit. Needless to say, there was some yelling and shouting at the painters. Also, fiberglass is just easier to work with in terms of fitment. Hopefully it's fiberglass *crosses fingers*.

As for the price, like my last post, I simply cannot believe how people can even START to complain about it being expensive because it's NOT. It's like people complaining about 39 cent cheeseburgers. People have to remember that the kit is designed for RX7's. Not to mention SECOND gen. There just aren't too many kits out there. And the ones that are out there are all jspec which = BIG BUCKS. So please, don't complain about price because there just isn't anything to complain about.

Peace,
AJ ^_^
