That's how we feel about the RX7.....and we get pissed when we hear an 18 yr old post that he wants to buy an RX7 to strret race it and possibly destroy IT and someone's life. If you buy an RX7 you have to maintain it regularly.....it is a VERY high maintenence car but worth it when you finish a car just the way you want it......please don't **** up a seven but if YOU do mess it up POST it in the lounge and we WILL try to help you recover as much money as possible by buying the parts off of it.......

so i hear alot of people talking about compression checks. whats some of the problems i would notice right off hand that say i have compression problems?

Thanks

-Rickey

p.s. im sorry if i come off like i know alot i dont mean to so again any info you guys got ill gladly accept.
compression checks are for the motor...........they check to make sure the apex seals are still intact. Search the second gen section for more details on HOW to do almost ANYTHING to your RX7.

oh another thing why do some of you guys say go turbo and some dont. what do u think i should do about that? cause if buying a used turbo car. wouldnt i have more problems? or can they be fixed quickly?

i mean the work is no problem cause my friend is just opening up a shop like 5 blocks from my house and im learning more and more everyday i work there. so if i need to work on my car the shops right there.
I have both...............The NA IS reliable and when treated well will never give you problems but can be made to reach 200HP with all bolt-osn.........It's quick but by no means fast. The turbo has a little more *****
but it's finicky......but can make as much HP as your willing to spend for.......there are so many things that could be wrong in a seven that we have posted most of the problems on this forum.......HAve fun searching and remember: IF you have a question about ANYTHING related to the RX7 then someone has already asked it so SEARCH........you should expect to search for a while before you make the purchase............If you're looking for a car to beat up then I would ask you to look elsewhere.......

well guys thanks for looking after me and my money but i really want this car. and if it breaks down ill fix it. and if i can't fix it ill ask someone for help and ask them to explain the problems solutions and things i should look for in the future. im committing to this car. besides if i can find the car for less than 6k all the rest is mine. you guys forget the uncle is paying and i have a job so yea itll be ok. im jumping into this blind but im looking for the best and if i have problems then ill work with it

another reason i want this car is to take my cousin's Trans am and make it kiss the ground my 7 rolls on.

(one day not anytime soon come on guys im not that stupid be serious those things come with like 390ponies but i can eat him up on the corners

bro you are in for the ride of your life...oh when your engine blows it cost thousands to rebuild and beating a trans am will take you about 5000.00 to accomplish

no negative coming from me all power to you but, you know you are not sure about an rx7 yet...wait out your options 6k is alot of money...you can find cars hooked up running well 12's and 13's for that much why waste your uncles money in a n/a

you said yourself you dont want to bother your family for rides and gas money or something like that right...well thats exactly what you will be doing

if you read on the forum you will see 97% of the people who owns an rx7 ..have a problem with their car...so 7 are easy problem magnets

its more of a passion or a bond for you to own a rx7 yet alone a ROTARY!!!
i use to be all piston until i got beat by a rotary IN THE TRACK ...for the last 6 years i have been all rotary

its a passion a devotion to own one not like one because they ride cool or look like they can drift, or the fast and the furious movie has it

If you got the money for the car and a steady job then an Rx7 should be fine for you!

You should just be aware that if you want the potential for serious power to beat your cousins Trans am you should start with a TII or full TII swapped NA car. An NA car will NEVER be able to smack down a trans am unless its on a twistie road.

If you get an RX-7, make sure your love for it endures. If you let just one little problem drive you nuts, then maybe you don't deserve these cars.

Good luck, and the for sale section has some pretty nice rides.

Looks like you got the right attitude! Just be careful, these cars can become a real money pit when you wanna start modding the hell out of them. You've been warned!

The best solution for these cars breaking down is to buy a second, which is a money pit. Thats what I did after going crazy not driving my first rx-7. Also you have to be crazy to buy a car that small... or so some people tell me.
