fan comes open when drives door opens
My electric cooling fan is wired through a relay. The relay gets the power from the blue connector near the drivers shock tower. The top middle connector on the blue connector is supposed to have power just when the key is on but the connector powers up when the drivers door is opened.
I can't find any wiring diagram that shows why the blue connector is powered up when the door opens.
What was the original purpose of the blue connector? How is the connector powering up without turning the key on?

There are two similar connectors in the area of the battery. One is green and the other is blue. The one I'm using is the blue connector and it has two wires (green/yellow or maybe white) and (black/yellow).

The only thing I can think of is that connector is part of the Security system that would power something like a relay to the Horn if the Driver's door is opened??
You should be taking 12 volts off the 6 pin green connector anyways,To drive that E-fan relay. There is a switched 12 volts on it.
Satch?..am I right?

The Blue check connector that has 6 pin positions but only two wires, G/O and B/W is for the EC-AT Control unit (automatic transmission).

i have a similar problem. (using the green connector as satch said). my fan stays on regardless of anything i do. even if i unhook the switched 12v. used to work fine.
anyways, my door switch apparently sometimes will turn my prosport temp gauge off if i push the door button. its power is tapped into the same as the radio.

And does your car have the factory alarm and if so do you remember what the wire color that is used to power the radio and propsport temp gauge? Is it the Blue/Red wire by chance.

Besides the B/W switched power wire, what other wires are you using to run the fan such as what wires are they connected to that are part of the car's stock wiring?

Isn't the green connector used for the CEL?

The Green check connector is for pulling codes but it can still be used to supply switched voltage for a fan relay which is the source used for most of the electric fans used by this community.

I can't find the post now but I know I read a post that said the green connector should never be used to supply power because the power is routed through the ECU.
But, now I know that my whole problem was caused by using the wrong connector for the power to switch the relay. Must be safe if everybody uses the
green connector.
Thanks for the help.
