Failing MD emissions
Failing MD emissions
Took my 1990 S5 gtu for an emissions test today in Maryland.
I have a street-ported NA, with a K&N airfilter and Bonez cat installed around April 2005.
My numbers are as follows (Grams per mile):
Hydrocarbons (HC) - Failed
State Standard: 1.4000 GPM
Inspection Readings: 2.9699 GPM
Carbon Monoxide (CO) - Failed
State Standard: 30.0000 GPM
Inspection Readings: 39.9424 GPM
Oxides of Nitrogen (NO) - Passed
State Standard: 2.5000 GPM
Inspection Readings: 0.1875 GPM
They also gave me a printout of various graphs created during the test, but I don't know what to make of it, I'll try to get a copy of it online later.
I'd like to get my car to pass without tricks such as adding alcohol to the gas.
I guess I'll start with a few things I've been meaning to replace anyway: spark plugs, fuel filter and O2 sensor.
