Faded Red Paint FOUND A MATCH!
To all those of us who have the FC's with the faded redy orangy looking paint i have found a good match! Go to Walmart get "fusion" paint the only red they have. It's Krylon. It almost matches perfect and bonds to plastic and rubber! I used it to touch up the cracked body kit on my car.....looks good! FYI

Mazda Sunrise Red is available at most auto parts stores, in both spray can and touch up. Why would you want to use anything but the exact right color?

Seriously; my 'vert was faded orange looking, but after a good rubbing compound and then a polish and then a wax, its color has returned just fine. As long as the paint has not flaked white, it should be fine.
Fine enough that I repainted the mirrors and the trim around the lights with the touch up spray can and they match perfect.

You guys should see my 1989 GXL. It used to be "Blaze Red", but it's more of a "Soft Erotic Pink". I did try buffing and waxing a small part of the body, but it only served to make the pink slightly darker and water repellent.
No big deal though. It's getting painted Krylon Flat Black anyways.

Mazda Red paint is not a clear coat paint. Therefore is it very prone to oxidizing.
Waxing the car won't help.
Cleaner/Wax will do better after about 4-5 coats, but still not restore the original color.
Best bet is an orbital buffer with a light polish. Have to be very careful though not to burn the paint though.
