factory security system - constant beeping int light

Ok I did a good amount of searching but was unable to find any info to what I'm observing, also attempts to find an online copy of the Owners Manual proved fruitless.

Anycase its an S4 GXL and the alarm appears to be working. When I lock the latches from inside the car the car will beep and also tested it triggering which it does, ie unlocking a door without a key caused the horn and lights to go off. Also unlocking it with the key disables it.

However I looked at the factory service manual and it said that after arming the system the interior security light should be solid for 10 seconds , then there after shine once every 3 seconds. However mine shines on and off about 3 times a second, just continually.

The first thing to happen after I got the car was the alarm went off on the freeway, horn and lights and everything, it was a rather unpleasant expiernce so I simply unplugged the security module altogether so I wouldn't have to deal with it. After working with Karack and testing the system it seems to be ok but I still don't have full faith in it working right.

So if anyone knows the full behaviour of the system and what could be possibly wrong and/or knows where to find a scanned copy of an owners manual that would be great, thanks.

Ok I'm a mighty idiot, my hood was popped, hence the constant repeating flashing of the interior security light. But hey at least I searched a bunch first, right! Right?

I'm having the same problem. every time i close the door the car get arm. then when i open the door the alarm goes on. how do you turn it off? i'm getting tired off opening the hood and disconnecting the negative terminal to turn the alarm off. how do you disable the factory alarm system?

thanks

To arm the system, lock the doors from the inside and close the drivers side by holding the handle up, the interior security light should flash solid for 10 seconds or so, beep quickly, then beep intermittently, that means it is armed.

To disarm, unlock one of the doors with the key. The security light will then turn off until one of the doors is opened.
