Factory amps.

hey guys, im replacing my factory head unit for a Sony GT930, and eventually i would like to run Polk Audio Component's all around. so my question is: what is the Wattage on the factory amps. i searched and came up with some info.

There should be a Blue or Blue/white wire (if the radio follows normal ISO wiring) that needs to be hooked up to the Mazda turn on wire, so that the amp is only on when the radio or CD is on.

But the buzzing also suggest that the aftermarket CD/Radio unit that you are using is a high power unit, and that may be an issue with the stock amps which are designed for 15 watt (peak) inputs. If this is the case, then you will need to bypass all the amps and take the speaker wires of the radio to the speakers. But we will not know for sure until you have at least the turn on hooked up correctly.
this was taken from this thread.

so if this is true, for basically any 200W head unit now-a-days wouldn't work too well with the factory amps.

thanks for your help guys.

Well, also take into consideration that 200w is 200x4. it is 50 watts MAX peak power per channel and the RMS wattage is going to be 15-22w RMS.

don't use the factory amps.It will cause nothing but trouble. Just use the built in sonys to run the polks directly. It will sound much better that way. Latter get some good amps and put them in/under the 'storage bins'

i decided to go with at 510UB from Pioneer instead. some reviews on the Sony said it was good for ipods, but reading from USB's and such isnt all to well. i've decided to just route my own wiring. im debating whether or not to toss in a 1000W amp so i can get 150W per chan. but i'll just wait and see how it sounds before i dish out the 120 for the amp. thanks tho.
