A/f Ratio Problem

I installed my a/f gauge just now and I knew that I was running rich but I am runnning dead rich. I found some of my problem and that is when I install my RB header i had to extend the O2 sensor wire and it melted so the sensor was grounded and sending a false signal or the ECU went into limp mode (if it has one). I had it working then it stopped. Are the O2 sensor wires shielded? I am going to get a new one and buy some heat shield for the wire. My other prob is inconsistant oil pressure. It is wierd that when the A/F gauge was working correctly the oil pressure was correct but when it stopped teh oil pressure dropped. Any suggestions?
