Extremely stupid qestion.... JB weld

How do you know when it's dry?

Mine's been drying for 16 hours now (industrial strength, it says 14 hrs on the pkging). It still looks glossy and I can kinda scrape my fingernail into it a little bit. Is that how this stuff is supposed to be when it's dry? thanks!

did you mix it right? 50/50 sounds like you may have had to much steel not enough hrdner if its not rock hard after 16 hrs. I usally use a touch more hardner when I mix to be safe. Unless you have it in a really humid enviroment .. then it may take longer

Um, I can't really decide on that ... I always sand mine when dry. But you should NOT be able to scrape your nail into it, if its done right and fully set .. so I would wait a while.

If it's original JB Weld, it usually won't be dry for about 24-30 hours.

Next time use JB Kwik.

I would give it a good 24hrs. to dry. Putting a good hot light bulb next to it helps some. As far as glossy mine was when it dried all the way but it was hard, like metal hard.
