Exhaust Weight

Just wondering if anyone has an idea of how much the RB full turbo exhaust weighs and how much the stock exhaust system weighs.

Every little bit adds up to make a big difference. You might as well save weight where it can be easy and cheap to do it.

the stock exhuast is pretty heavy and I'm assuming that the racing beat exhaust is going to be a little lighter. my exhaust seemed much lighter then the stock.

and every bit does count specially if he starts pulling carpet, and smog and all the other crap that you don't really need, the wheight starts to really add up, but of course if he only plans on lighting up the exhuast then its not going to really matter

Look... the Racing beat is lighter than the stock components (if you include the precats and main cat)

BUT.... the REASON that the racing beat catback system is heavier is because its BETTER quality Stainless Steel.. Its not gonna rust out on you, its thicker, and much more durable... Its pretty much a lifetime system..

That being said.. SOME of the racing beat products use mild steel components, and these are lighter that their stainless counterparts... but... guess what.. they'll also rust!!

all the aftermarket exhausts are WAY lighter than stock, the differences between the different aftermarket exhausts them is trivial. If you're concerned with weight, the biggest difference will be single vs. dual, since single is maybe 25% lighter.

There was that page on the Triple-R racing website where that guy put his '87 sport model on a diet. The exhaust changeout saved over 30lbs., so it's not too trivial a thing to do. It's very easy to remove a good 150-200lbs. from your RX-7, depending on what model it is. Now go drive around with one of your friends in the car, then have them get out. You'll see what a difference it makes.

I really don't care if someone thinks that it matters or not to save a few pounds or whatever. My question was what is the weight of the Racing Beat Full Turbo Exhaust in pounds. And what is the weight of the stock exhaust, also in pounds. Numbers, two of them that's all...anyone know the values?

He just doesnt realize that dropping that weight will do a lot of good. Any weight you can comfortably drop should be dropped.

Exactly, I raced my friends modified 240SX once with a passenger, he got me by two cars, but when I raced him without one. I got him by two cars. COuld of been the gearing, the shifts, and 1000 other things. But I'm sure that it wouldn't make that big of deal.

If this is true, with the weight savings from my new exhaust, I could ride around with a 70 pound japanese broad and weigh the same as a stock fc and still kill 'em.

Yeah, stock exhaust with all the heat shields and whatnot is pretty heavy. You'd probably save around 20 lbs. with the RB full turboback.

My stock TII exhaust weigh 80lbs including downpipe and the catalytic converter.
I´ve built a custom one, singel side and it saved me 53lbs with downpipe, but without any cat...

I just bolted up an RB NA cat-back. The Y pipe is 19lbs, each muffler is 18 lbs.
I wouldn't expect much difference for th eTII one.
