Exhaust temperature sensor, oil?

So I pulled my exhaust temp sensor off today to paint and noticed that it had some oil under it. I am guessing that it is just to prevent corosion, which is why I am painting, but I had to wipe it off to paint and now what do i use to replace it?

Is it just motor oil? can I use WD40 or is it some $80 per oz. super special "Mazda, Dealer, screw me over" oil.

There was no oil on mine.... Its just dry under it. I pulled mine off yesterday (I'm painting my interior as well). Did you remove the sound deadening material?
