There are too many options to really answer. You just have to make sure that the muffler is packed with steel and not fiberglass. The cheapest ones I seen:

Everyone wants to **** and moan about the environment, racism, legalized abortion, animal rights, womens rights, and whatever other bullsh!t cause they can think of. Wake up...in all the years of bitching and crying, has anything really been done to correct any of these things? no. There are some things you just CAN NOT change. There will always be racists, sexists, polluters, murderers, animal killers, teenagers opening their legs getting knocked up, and people that you disagree with all together. Im not saying at all that I agree with all of these things, I just know that there is nothing that can be done to correct these things. DynoMax Ultra Flo series has a stainless steel 3 stage cat. I could not tell a difference in power from it and the pre-silencer I got with my header. but the noise was MUCH better. I am sure ther is some power loss, but I can't feel it and I don't race porfessionally, do you?

$180 is cheaper than the fine you would get it you got caught.

 

The diesel fuels and vehicles on our markets could certainly be environmentally friendly. Diesel is good at some types of emmisions bad at others, such as SO2. I think from a greenhouse gas perspective the TDI is better. (not 100% positive)

Do problems get solved such as those BoostedRotors outlined? You're damn right they do! You may not be able to entirely eliminate things like racism & sexism, but there has been a MASSIVE improvement in the last say 60 years. Not recycling is just plain stupid. (no offense)

Global Warming: There has been some continued controversy over the validity of it. However, a clear majority of experts belive it does exist. Some have argued things like bodies of water absorbing CO2, or that the changes in temperature are not that abnormal from a historical standpoint. Even Dubya admits Global Warming exists, something his father refused to do while in office.

Actually smog laws do work, CA proved that. Since manditory testing and inspection went into effect the smog has dropped over 50% in 2 decades, to levels of the 60's had with only 30% of the cars that are found on the road today.

Maybe if I lived in Bumfuct small town, that has only 10000 people and has no pollution I might not care either, but I don't. I live in the 5th largest economy in the world.

And frankly yeah I am gonna bitch about someone fauling up where I live... But again maybe if I stuck back east, I wouldn't care if soemone dumped trash in my yard either.

 

I live in a major metropolitan city. We have electricity, cable, and even hookers. Traffic lights, north, east and west sides, bars, colieseums, police cars, telephones, stereos, grocery stores, shopping malls, tall office buildings, traffic jams, and a population of about 2.5 million. What are we missing here in Birmingham? Emissions laws.

Its real easy to bitch about these things when you live in a place that requires you to meet certain requirements, but Id like to see how a lot of your cars looked if you didnt.

 

That comment stinks almost as badly as your uncatalyzed exhaust fumes... Putting a hi-flow cat onto a car barely reduces HP at all, and cleans up the exhaust a bunch. I'm fine with removing the precat, it's only for cold-start emissions anyway (and most people drive long enough, IMHO, for that not to matter too much). Running a midpipe instead of a hi-flow cat (not much price difference either) gives you <like i originally stated> no more than 5-6 HP despite a HUGE increase in pollution.

Maybe you'd think differently if the exhaust came out of the front of your car...

GUys does racing beat make a set up for a 86 like single all the way. im thinking cutting into duals you restrice hp. if you got the rb header, and presilencer and single 2.5 all the way back with rb muffler should flow really goood cause that y section your cutting it. im trying to get info on this does anyone have any input?

 

Your FC doesn't sound like an inboard-outboard boat motor with duals opposed to a single(well...a high pitch inboard outboard boat motor anyway). Either way, there obviously isn't any MAJOR gains from going from dual to single or everyone would do it (despite arguing back and forth about what makes more power).

Either way, here's a straight pipe w/a built-in presilencer. It's still going to be loud, but not AS bad. Single piece, direct replacement for heavy restrictive cats and not street legal. NOTE: This piece doesn't allow the split air pipe to hookup (like it matters).

 

I'd have trouble seeing the cars in front of me between the flames shooting out of my OPEN pipes...

As for all you cat fanatics. I punched the cat in my bmw the last year we had testing in this state and it actually smogged better than the year before. Please try to explain this to me.

 

Actually in CA testing is only once every two years. I could be running without a Cat right now, and for the next year and a half, with no fear what so ever; of testing.

But I don't. My exhaust fully meets the state and local requirements for emission allowable outputs for an 88 RX-7. I am socially responsible.
