Exhaust Setup Suggestions...?

Ok, the first mod I did to my car was a FULL tune up. And now its time to move on, im thinking about getting a new exhaust system.

I am really at a loss... I dont know what would sound good on an RX7, and I dont wanna buy something and it sound like crap.

I live in Alberta Canada, so first off it is legal to remove the CAT. So I plan on having no cat, bigger turbo elbow, bigger downpipe, straight pipe, then muffler of my choice.

Im looking for a good, clean sound... nothing too loud or too raspy. And hopefully something agressive sounding...? Anyone got any suggestions? (mostly suggestions on Muffler... or better ways of doing my exhaust system)

Thanks alot in advance

the racing beat turbo back system sounds really nice. www.racingbeat.com and its not awfuly loud.

on my car i have just a 3 inch piece of straight pipe from the turbo back to an n1 muffler, its LOUD and i like the way it sounds but you cant hear anything including music while you were in the car.

RB turboback system. Sounds great. Quiet at idle and loud when you want it to be. Spool up is great but watch out for boost creep!

I'm also interested to know more on exhaust setups. Since i don't have alot of money right now, i'd like to only get a dp and mid pipe. So far I've noticed people like racing beat. Is racing beat the prevailing choice?

Another quick q', since i only plan on getting the 3" dp and 3" mp for now, will it fit the rest of my stock catback?

Thanks

-Carlos

Racing beat is one of the quitest mufflers you can buy for the 7, and racing beat has always been known for quality. the Dual Apexi N1 setup is my favorite, They are really loud.... trust me... really loud...

Depends which downpipe and presilencer you get. They offer differ lengths and sizes depending on the application. Check out www.racingbeat.com

For example any part of the Full Turbo back exhaust will not bolt up to any aftermarket part.

Can you pass emssions (including visual... and legally....not by knowing people heh.)with that setup? Or do you need to swap back? I was thinking of doing from the Exaust manafold back system... from Bonez.. only because they say it will pass emissions... I don't think I would know how to get that manafold on and off all by my lonesome.

Thanks!

When I bought my car it had no cats. I bought a corksport 3inch downpipe and a bonez high flow main cat and bolted it to the stock catback. Passed smog with flying colors. I will swap that system back in when smog time comes around. I didnt have to do the dyno smog the first time though.

i have a 3inch RB DP and the rest is custom, no cats or resonators. Just 3" piping to my 5zigen muffler. Just to give you an idea of how loud it is, you can hear your car echo off the houses with your windows up, you cant talk across your car to someone else when your cars at idle, you set off car alarms at idle, at idle it sounds like a helicopter, This just gives you an idea of how loud it is AT IDLE, at anything above idle, its just sickly loud beutiful music that will **** off any neighbor in the world

If you going with a straight through exhaust setup, I'd suggest getting two racing beat mufflers.
That what im using and it sounds great. Its not loud unless you really get on it. No were near as loud as those N1's.
At idle it purrs. Really deep sounding but not loud. You can still carry on a conversation.
Oh...and it shoots fireballs real nice too

Just because you live in Alberta, and there is no emissions testing, does NOT mean its legal to remove your emissions equipment. They are still required, and if you get pulled over, and the officer sees you aren't running a cat, its still a hefty fine.

Is it legal to have a downpipe on there tough? I was always under the impression the second you replace the exaust manafold you are screwed when it comes to visual.... ?

I live in Calgary too and when i bought my car it didn't have any cats on it..
I actually wouldn't mind putting one on because the fumes are really strong and my exhaust is louder than i would like it to be.
Anyone know where i can pick up this, bonez high flow main cat?

Thanks

I would go with a Racing Beat system. Not to hijack your thread, but is this a nice system? RB 3.15'' DP to muffler complete system It looks like a nice system, the DP even has a spot for the O2 sensor (some don't)...

Thanks, Josh

EDIT: quoted wrong person

Well technically my car should have 2 cats. Some places arent very strict on the visual inspection.
