Well, we got the Y-pipes made and bent towards the mufflers, now we just have to weld them up to the mufflers and make a few hangers and the exhaust should be done. I'll post pictures of it when we've got it done.

just bought my 87 gxl n/a. exaust that was put on it by previous owner. 2.5" straight off manifold to a ricer mufler. cat air tube welded shut. loud as hell at wot and the secondaries arnt working right. get all kinds of lurching at diferent speeds depending on how much throttle i am giving it. i set off alarms weather i am driving like a granny or not. no point in having a stereo at freeway speeds.

Sounds kinda like mine. Mine is 3" from the manifold to a 3" (empty) cat, then Y's off into dual 2 1/2" to $25 ebay mufflers. I was troubleshooting something so I started the car with an open manifold (no exhaust after manifold) and it was a LOT quieter. I'm hoping to fix this as soon as the stuff comes in from JC Whitney, by flanging the pipe around the cat and putting in an 18" glasspack premuffler, then fixing the secondaries to open with the airpump. :P

Well, we got the exhaust finally finished. The only problem now is that I re-used the stock mufflers and the system is way too quiet. I did 2.5" from the manifold to the 2 stock mufflers with no cats or anything and the exhaust is VERY quiet. I'm going to start looking for some aftermarket mufflers here quick so that I have at least some sound to my exhaust. Other than that, it fits perfectly and has no leaks and I can tell a difference in performance compared to the stock exhaust. I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow.

Why don't you take off the stock cat-back and use a single to dual muffler for the y-pipe and run straight pipes out the back. ie: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=563
