I paid 62.00 (including shipping) for two mufflers on ebay... That link is below...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2X-UN...32092612QQrdZ1

I paid 100.00 for the install... They sound good... I believe they have a 2.5 inlet... I told the muffler guy that I wanted them to bolt on so he added the pipe and flange to them... I did this so that I can replace the rest of my exhaust system later with true duals... I just posted pics of them on my car earlier today... That link is below...

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...=1#post6145766

It is the cherry red one... It has a removable silencer included... This little piece of metal makes a huge difference in sound... With the silencer in it sounded more stock, just a little louder... With them removed it sounds pretty tough...

Yea, those aren't actually that bad. Looks like the price listed is for two of the mufflers correct? I those don't look too bad either, seems like they fit the stock bumper pretty well. Removable silencer would be cool too. Could put them in when just crusing through town to keep the cops off your ***, then take them out when you want to have a little fun. I'm sure they're not true HKS titanium mufflers though, but for the price, that's not too bad at all. I like the sound of the stock exhaust, just want it to be louder. But the thing is, the stock mufflers are very restrictive, so that's why I want something straighter through.

Final decision has been made. Going to run 2.5" from the manifold back to the Y-pipe, then 2.25" for the Y-pipe to the mufflers, and then use these mufflers.

Any other suggestions for my exhaust system?

One last question. Who all makes exhaust manifolds for the N/A? Also, if I remember reading right, the rotary runs best with no backpressure on the exhaust unless you have a N/A with the 5th and 6th ports. Was wondering if maybe keeping the cats on would help with performance. Just trying to build the best performing exhaust I can for a cheap price that's going to sound nice.

Unfortunately, the Borla exhaust isn't cheap. Might as well buy an RB exhaust for that price. Might just go with the stock exhaust manifold and port it out. Is it possible to do that?

Has anyone here bored out the stock exhaust manifold at all or would I have to worry about it melting or dis-forming?

Bore it out? Dude, take it off and look inside it...

The stock manifold is a peice of trash anyways, dont bother putting any work into it.

Dude, seriously. Rather than building this full exhaust..do what the other guy suggested. Set it up for the turbo..

Buy the full turbo-back RB exhaust. Use all of it that you can..and have a peice made to link your stock NA manifold / downpipe with the RB setup.

I don't have that kind of money right now to buy the RB turbo exhaust, not to mention I can have this exhaust made for very cheap for my NA. It's probably going to maybe cost me 150 bucks for the entire setup, not to mention I'm not sure if I want RB for sure yet.

Then you could just save the money for the turbo swap. :p

I am doing a turbo swap in the next month or two as well. I just put my car back to stock for now.

My turbo swap probably won't be happened for at least a year or so yet, so that's why I'm doing small things now to make the car better.

So there's no point in porting the stock manifold at all? It has to give you some kind of gain, even if it's small. I'm more worried that if I ported it, it would collapse or melt because it doesn't dissapate heat as well.

No point in building the turbo exhaust now when I don't have the money to and this is going to be very cheap to do. Also, I'd rather just buy the complete RB exhaust and bolt it up when all my parts are brand new, rather than getting them dirty now for no reason since the car is still my DD for the time being. I'll just buy the RB exhaust after I get the turbo engine in and working correctly. Still doesn't answer my question about the manifold though....

I got a borla full catback for $275 shipped slightly used

the recently picked up the mufflers only for $75 shipped

i'm using the mufflers without the y-pipe to make the ultimate n/a exhaust system

corksport header with the collector cut of, running into two xr-1 presilencers into the borla mufflers, full stainless true duals baby, its going to be beefy without being awfully loud, should sound great, the regualr borla catback sounds amazing, i prefer it over RB but thats me, its slightly more "under the radar" in looks than the RB system

There's nothing to bore out in the exhaust manifold. The manifold is just open pipes that bend and join together. The aftermarket manifolds have bends that aren't as sharp. That's it. The gains are small, but they exist.

Alright, just going to build my exhaust with the 2.5" midpipe to a 2.25" Y-pipe and my two mufflers that I listed before and not worry about the exhaust manifold. Should be all I need to know. Thanks guys.

Just figured I'd throw this in there, but does anyone else have pictures of their mufflers that they got for pretty cheap? I'm about ready to order the ones I found on eBay, but would like to see what else you guys put on your cars. Thanks.

Well, I started working on the exhaust for the car. I started by removing the old exhaust and disconnecting the hangers. Pre-silencer, pre-cat, and main cat were all plugged pretty badly. I cut the pre-silencer down and used the flange and the small leading pipe to start the exhaust, which connects to a 5 foot piece of 2.5" tubing. That's as far as we got for the day, and we're going to hopefully finish the exhaust tomorrow. I've got to put a few bends in it, but I've at least got all my parts now. I'll take some pictures of it when I've got it done. Btw, open manifold on an FC is extemely loud.

loud is quite frankly matter of opinion because i have a 2.5in DP going to a gutted cat and a 2.5in open pipe kinked right before the rear tire to shoot side exit...(makes AWSOME flames on the side...i used this setup because the side exit bend controls my boost to about 10psi...lol since i dont have a boostcontroller...lol its un argueably loud at WOT at idle and at medium its kinda acceptable...but dont bother with a phone....lol NOW ill be honest i have NEVER gotten a ticket or been questioned about that setup here in SAN ANtonio tx...lol OH and ill be selling my that setup soon since i have a 3 inch and alot of money for new parts...LOL
