Sounds like it is the line from the airpump if it's connected to the cat.

you dont want to do that. thats what makes your 5/6 ports work you can remove the other 2 cats but leave the main or you can buy a test pipe ment to go in oplace of the cat so that they still fuction

Remove the airpump as there would be no point in having it on if you remove the cat. It'll free up ~1-2ish hp and improve engine response a little as well. One less piece of parasitic drag. Assuming you have a series 5 (89+) RX-7

Its called a split air tube, it actuates your 5th and 6th ports. Leave it on unless you remove the system entirely (sleeves and all, total unrestrictive flow) or unless you can jimmy up another way for them to work.

Removing the air pump on an s5 will **** up the 5th and 6th ports resulting in a failed system, since the 5th and 6th ports are actuated off the ECU by the air pump. My only suggestion then is to wire in an RPM switch.

So for those with RB headers/ Presilencer connected to a catback? What do you do with that tube?

cut it off and plug it, its one hell of a vac leak. like posted above wire up an rpm switch to open the port on an s4. mine are just wired open right now, because i have a straight through exhaust and no money or time to wire one up. that will be done shortly

no, you plug the lines, a srew(small line) and a spare socket(big line, it is a 14mm i belive is what i used) it what i used. Prolly not the best way to do or the right way to do it, but hey, its what i had laying around at the time.

What if i have a s5???

I heard the 5th and 6th ports werent related to the air splitter on the S5, as to the S4 pre-silencer has a place for the air splitter i think.... not sure though

thanks everyone

Is there a little hanger thing coming off the presilencer? If there is, plug it in. If not buy a block off kit off BanzaiToyota and do it legitmately.

Since I know you have a S5 I say block it off. The ECU controls the 5th and 6th ports anyways so as long as you don't remove your air pump, you should be fine.

That's a terrible solution. It takes just a day and maybe $15 bucks to get them running correctly. Wiring them open has a loss of low end, torque curve, and with a very little gain on the top end.

If you don't want to use them, remove them completely (sleeves also) and block it off (giving it unrestrictive air flow in the engine).

I'm not saying that that is the final solution. i just did that for the time being and focused on the other problems of the car. what do i do with the lines if i want to get the ports working again?

I believe that the RB presilencer has an attachment point for the air pipe. At least on my S5, the air pipe is connected to an RB presilencer. (Former owner installed the RB down pipe and presilencer.)
