exhaust question

i have an 86 gxl and i was wondering if its possible to somehow take the exhaust off and drive it. ive heard about the other pipe that runs along side the main piping that has to do with the ports. i was going to take my cats off and work on them but i still have to have the car to drive. any suggestions?

Not smart but you can do it. Just keep in mind that the exhaust note WILL be so sharp that you inside and anyone that is fairly close will be wincing in pain. you will be listening to the equvalent of rapid fire gunshots. i have heard this and i have never cupped my ears more quickly in my life.

again this is very bad... for you.

I am against what everyone is saying.

OF COURSE YOU CAN DO IT!! AND NOT ONLY THAT, YOU SHOULD DO IT!!! I think it would be pretty cool, I remeber when I had to take mine off of my GSL-SE and drove it in my back yard to the porch...w00t it was fun! Go for it man and take a vid too!

Yes you can do it and it will be drivable (mechanically) but it will be ungodly loud, and your head will explode.

yea, i know it will be extremely loud, that really wont bother me. i was going to take my cats off a gut them, but darryl told me i cant take it off because of the ports...the smaller pipe that runs along side the main one. so i was wondering if i took them off would i have to plug something into the smaller piping or would it still run

take it off and gut it..then connect the split air pipe.(that's what the small pipe is called) back up ..it will work just fine..I had a hollow cat on mine..split air hooked up..no problem with the ports at all..by the way..i still had my air pump.

Bring it to a shop that can do it in a day or replace it all. Wait for a few days off to do it. The costs of the noise violation will be the same as replacing the parts or bringing to someone that has the ability to actually do the work quickly.

The noise resonance from an open, unrestricted exhaust of a rotary CAN and More than likely WILL cause severe, and irreversable hearing damage. I ran my car for about 20 seconds in my old FB with an RB header and it was too much for me.

But heres the key.

I doesnt bother you. How bout everyone else? Might as well fly a **** swastika and paint naked girls on the side of your car. Thats how loud it is outside the car. The police will be waiting at the end of the driveway.
