Exhaust ports

I need 3" anyways, so I guess I'll be redoing it and going to something quieter... hopefully.

Just by re-doing the exhaust ports on my TII from a very mild port to an average street-port the exhaust noise is significantly louder.
one 3"pipe/3 mufflers and i think my car is still loud...
i can tolerate it but i have to be real careful when i drive to sacramento with all the crackdowns on modified cars going on.

At least you guys have turbos to quiet the exhaust note down. NA uncorked and wild ported exhaust is a whole different ball game, sucks
I plan on going with a custom 3" outlet header, racing beat 3" universal (large) presilencer, and something like a 6" round magnaflow that is fairly long. I don't really car about looks, so a single and simple tip out the back will be fine with me.

**** RB, excuse my language. I am willing to use their universal presilencer, but not their catback. Their exhaust is heavy, overrated, expensive, and nothing special. Their header is a big *** heavy piece of crap that hangs off my engine and I cannot wait to get rid of it.
The magnaflow 6" round is a very large muffler, get one long enough and it will work just fine. I ran a 4" round as my cat replacement pipe for a long time and it turned the exhaust from ear bleeding, to the same tone as my bonez high flow cat used to be. However, the magnaflow could not handle the heat of the rotary right after the header and ended up burning and blowing. I know plenty of people that run magnaflows out the back, though, where the exhaust is much cooler and it works fine. That's why I'm planning on the magnaflow round, because I know from experience it worked well.
In fact.. the magnaflow 4" round (while it was working) muffled the exhaust MUCH better than the borla I swapped to. I had to change to the borla, though, just because it could handle the heat whereas the magnaflow couldn't at the cat position.

Are you seriously going to use that housing cause then you got to match the port with another and that looks like it will be a job in a half to do. IF it was me, I'd do it, just to **** the people off in Berkeley, and top it off with straight 3" exhaust, that's just me.

The magnaflow I'm talking about, by the way, is 3" in/out, 6" round body, and 30" overal length for the muffler portion. That's quite a big muffler, should do some good sound deadening. Plus using that in conjunction with a single should still be lighter overall.
thanks for the pic karak. as soon as i get my dremel i'll work on them.
actually i don't mind the noise. my previous car was a fb with a streetported 12a all open exhaust with a flowmaster muffler and it was loud but i loved it. my friends used to say they could hear me from 800 ft. away.
yep..i will be using the housings and i will port match the other one. it could be a job and 1/2 but i'm in no rush and have plenty of time to do it.
as for exhaust i thought about going just a single pipe 2.5" all the way to the back. i'm still deciding on the muffler but it's gonna be loud. i till need a tII sleeve though

that's funny, I think the RB presilencer is useless and the catback is great, albeit heavy. I run mine with just a straight midpipe and header, and the noise is tolerable. I think a single exhaust is going to make your head explode with that setup...
Well for reference of what an (n/a) ported motor and fairly large ported exhaust, however not as large as that thing you want to use, sounds with RB header > borla xr1 midpipe > corksport single catback. This was at around 1100 rpms and the camera mic was maxed and about 10-20dB were actually lost. Trust me, this type of annoyingly loud exhaust gets REALLy old, and I am no stranger to loud exhaust. I used to run a streetported intake/exhaust (smaller than what I have now) with header > straight pipe > dual blown mufflers out the back, and it's louder now it seems... it's at least it's very close.
Damnit I need 3" exhaust
