Exhaust pipe?

I would like to know what the extra (1/2") pipe is for on my Exhaust?

It runs from the engine to halfway down the Exhaust, what is it for and do i need it?

That is the split air pipe. It supplies fresh air to the catalytic converter. Yes, you need it.

You only need it if you have a cat. You should remove your air pump as well, it's useless.

If you don't have a cat, you don't need it. Remove the pipe, as well as the air pump and air control valve. You will need a blockoff plate for the ACV.
