Talking Exhaust Opinion Needed

Alright, what if I got a 2.5" or 3" downpipe, then custom piping (2.5" or 3") back to a single muffler where the stock "Y" split is.
Then dual pipes going out the stock locations?

sounds ok, but if you're going with 3", you might get higher boost and see some boost spike, wouldn't be safe unless going with some fuel mod too

...i assume you have a TII

Oh yes, a '87 Turbo II.
What about a 3" downpipe then 2.5" piping the rest of the way? Would that be too much of a change for the exhaust flow?

And what kind of muffler does everyone think would :
A)Fit in that spot
B)Keep the sound good and low
C)Not melt in 2 months?

BoostedRotors did something like that. He had 3" to a muffler, then a y-pipe straight out to the stock outlet locations.

For the downpipe alone I could afford to buy a new one, but a used would be ideal. So $50-$100 for a downpipe.

For a muffler, I dont want to spend more than $100.
That way I can still have some dough to get the custom piping cut and installed.
