exhaust loudness question

Well, my question is this... Which will be louder: a corksport catback or the stock y pipe with mufflers completely rusted off, as in not connected whatsoever?

I have a downpipe, the mid cat, and then the main cat removed (bought it that way), and was wondering which will be louder. I would be getting the Corksport with the silencer as well, would this be louder than just running from the Y-pipe? Anyone have any ideas?

umm what is the relavance of this question? if you want scheer volume then run a strait pipe all the way back with a meggaphone the flairs at the bumper.

if you want something that sounds decent then shop around for something nice.

Corksport is loud. Leaving a rusted y-pipe isn't an option.

i was seeing if replacing it with a corksport would be louder than it is now... I know that leaving it isn't an option(rode my motorcycle in the 30 some degree weather because I didn't want to drive) the relevance was just to see if it would be louder with the corksport than it is now because it is pretty loud right now

edit: i'm not going for loudness either btw and don't have the money for a rb or other...

You don't? But you have the money for a Corksport? Perhaps you should visit the classifieds section. You just might be able to pick up a good RB catback in your price range.

My corksport on my old N/A with gutted cats was SO loud, but it wasn't an annoying tone loud, just rotary loud I swapped it over to my T2 and its a lot quieter, and deeper sounding but that could be cus I still have the cats in, and the turbo.

Haha, try running around with open header, or even open cat, its not THAT bad with just a y-pipe.

some people just need to think a little and be a bit creative.
i have 2 Magnaflow Stainless Steel mufflers inline and for both mufflers it ended up being less than $200, and both come with a lifetime warranty. it doesn't cost that much either for a decent exhaust shop to fab it up for you.
even with an RB header and no cat, it's not too loud and flows nicely.

Borla catback is priced very good and not obnoxiously loud like the corksport probably is. 3" exhaust piping on n/a is just overkill and uneeded, but hey if you like having an exhaust thats really much louder than it should be then be my guest..but having a louder exhaust doesnt mean your car is making more power.

I run borla catback and racing beat header, no cat just straight pipe and mine is not obnoxiously loud , i could even give you a video link to how it sounds when i hit the redline.

If you decide to go custom, all you need is 2.5" piping before ypipe dual 2" after, you can trust me on that.

Im just saying these sizes because thats what the n/a racing beat header size is (dual 2" primary , 2.5" collector) and the borla is the same, 2.5" before y pipe and dual 2" after, nice and consistant..do you think racing beat would make the collector 2.5" if it was more benefical to run 3" , i think not.

if you have all the intact precats and cats, then a corksport will be just as loud as haveing a rusted out y pipe.

i know this from personal experience.
