Exhaust issues
So here's my problem. I bought the car for $500 and i'm pretty sure it's running on 1 rotor. well after i got her running, after about 30 minutes the exhaust was getting red hot. i thought it was a backed up cat at first, but after removing the exhaust, that doesn't seem to be the problem. the exhaust job is really really shitty. i had to remove everything from the downpipe back because it's all one welded piece past that. someone told me that the reason that the cat is glowing is because it's just a piece of **** universal one from autozone probably.... and i don't doubt it.
could anything else be causing that? is there any way i can still use this exhaust? would it be worth it to go to a junkyard and get the stock exhaust off of an FC, or should i just go aftermarket? also, Texas is starting to do smog testing in september. i'm getting an inspection sticker in august so i'm good for a year before i have to do smog, but i need to start looking for exhaust that will pass smog and what not.

Emissions requires a working catalytic and an air pump.
Your ACV needs to be working also in order for it to direct the air pump airflow into the cat correctly.
