Exhaust gasket sealant?
Exhaust gasket sealant?
Just as the title says.
When i take off the friggen downpipe, AGAIN i want to make sure that it isn't gonna leak exhaust gases. Im thinking of using two gaskets and bolting that **** up real tight. However, should I just use one, or should I use two and sealant of some type? What would you guys use to 'seal' the deal?
thx

One should suffice. If it is not sealing, the gasket is bad, and or the mateing surfaces are not parallel.
Most sealers are thermal active, meaning they react to the heat and you won't be removing it again easily.

I was having problems with leaks out of my header and I used Ultra Copper silicone which was the highest temp rating I could find at the autoparts store. Needless to say, no more leak and recently when I took off the header it seemed to have held up just fine. Oh and I used 1 gasket with the sealent when I did this where I had sealent against the header surface, then the gasket, then more sealent on the gasket. The gasket is now perminitely fused to my block
