your car always backfires you just dont notice it because of your cats blocking the flames if you get a pipe that replaces your cats from the exhaust manifold down to the cat back it is called a "racepipe" made by bonez i have a downpipe or racepipe what ever you want to call it to a single muffler apexi turbo dunk muffler it is sweet and it pops or shoots flames every shift some times when i ride on a gear as im slowing it just keeps shooting flames out my exhaust its a real crowd pleaser

forcing the flames to come out by releasing the back pressure with your exhaust is VERY BAD FOR THE ENGINE.

i dont know where you people get the idea that FIRE AND FLAMES is ever a good thing for a car

you dont have to have flames shoot out to be fast or worth anything you know

It's bad for the engine? Oops!
My exhaust still looks purty, it's a Racing Beat turbo catback.

well, my backfire has caused a big leak in my downpipe right before the cat... think my cat is clogged, havent checked yet.. but believe me, when there is a flame, it flashes the cars around me n the street curves.. fun to scare off the ricers... n those annoying tailgaters in heavy traffic.... two flames on your front bumper will do it.. .lol

Huh?

All exhaust flames are is unburnt fuel that the engine didn't consume igniting in the exhaust - that's it. It puts no extra stress on the engine or anything.

Cheap mufflers don't really like exhaust flames - I've seen a Dynomax cat-back with the sides of the mufflers totally blown out! A good, quality straight through exhaust will be fine, such as an N1 or the Racing Beat setup.

Removing the air pump also has an effect - stock, the car injects air into the exhaust to help stop backfiring.

BTW, I'm king of the 3-second-burn... Silent fire is the best, but you gotta love the occasional shotgun blast .

Yeah, it's immature, but shooting fire is fun as all get-out.

Dale
