have an 89 GTUs with corksport exhaust which is loud as hell and annoying, i know i need racing beat duals but don't have the money... Would it be a good idea to put a racing beat muffler in place of the corksport one... is that even possible? not sure of the exhaust piping diameter but it's at least 3in.

corksport also makes a plug to go in the exhaust to quiet it down (super cheap option) but that would rob power right?? would it rob that much??

 

If you decide to go with the duals let me know I will buy your corksport catback! It's the single right?

You can do just about anything with cash. Yes you could cut the CS pipe and weld on the RB muffler. But that , IMO, would look horrible on the FC.

Most rice cans have those little silencers that you screw in or whatever. I haven't noticed that much of a difference in volume from the sound clips I have heard. But I guess if you don't have any cash for another exhaust go for it. I would imagine that you would lose some power because your adding a restriction but I don't think anyone knows how much you will lose.

I would stick it out and go fot a true dual style exhaust. You can make a cheap one like SURESHOT and they still sound better than the cork sport(chain saw/weed wacker) sound.
