My understanding is that most people make a little plate to cover the hole where the split air pipe goes and take it off then run without the air pump, which is just for emissions anyway.

I disconected the pipe at the connection at the firewall and left it hanging. it'll blow some air under the car, no big deal. you could just remove the whole airpump and ACV but I don't want to.

what is that tube for?

hi,

I thought that tube from the catalytic converter was used to actuate the 6port actuators. I had the impression that the backpressure from this tube helped trigger the 6port actuators. Now from some of these posts I'm getting the feeling that the tube is used to pump air from the air pump _INTO_ the catalytic converter instead.

So which way is it? Someone, anyone have a really diagram with flow arrows showing which how the 6port system works?
Maybe a good scan from a factory service manual? I don't have one.

the GTX was a turbo... no 6 ports.

The pipe is for the 6 ports only on a 84-88 NA, on every other model its for helping keep the cat from overheating and burning cleaner.

But the problem I have encountered is what to do with the second air pipe that ran down along the down pipe into the side of the catalytic converter? I am needing help or an explanation from someone who has delt with this before. thank you to anyone who could help or just give some advice.
Do you have a double pulley?&nbsp If you do, you don't have an air pump - just ignore that pipe or plug it up.
