Talking Just got my 91 TII...now I have a few noobie questions

Just picked up my 91 TII tonite... ...There are a few minor things with the car that need a little fixing but other than that its awesome.

1. The passenger side window goes down fine but gets stuck on the way up and needs a little hand to close.

2. The rear defroster goes on but I don't think it is defrosting.

3. Rear wiper does not work for mist but works other times.

forgot to add this:

4. the hand brake indicator is on but my hand brake is all the way down.

How can I fix these little problems. Thanks in advance.

Appears that the tabs come off sometimes, this might be your problem
http://www.mazdatrix.com/in-hatch.htm
"Rear Hatch Lid Defroster Tabs (79-85)

Due to the weight of the coiled wires attached to the rear window defroster grid, the tabs come off the glass. If a reasonable portion of the original solder (gray colored) remains on the glass, new tabs can be soldered on. The tabs are supplied with solder already on them and can be installed with a conventional soldering gun. Please be careful not to overheat the glass and NEVER use any tool with a flame.

We are successful in re-attaching the tabs approximately 75% of the time. For Hatch Lids that will not hold the tab, the only solutions we have found is to either live without the defroster, or replace the glass piece.

2 required of Part Number 75-8990-FA01

In the case of the brake light being on you need to add a little fluid to your brake system. STP break fluid works fine. However, I did this to mine and the brake light won't go off. So I am now suspecting that it might be air bubbles in the system so I am just going to have my brakes bled along with my clutch when I finish fixing up the car in the spring. Hope it works better for you than me. I believe the brake fluid reservoir is located about 2/3 back from the your left light. Hope you have fun with the car, they are one hell of a blast to drive.

The window glass aligned is a bit off.&nbsp You'll need to pull the interior dook panel off and loosen the two bolts that hold the bottom of the window glass.&nbsp Try and tilt the glass towards the front - this seems to work most of the time.

2. The rear defroster goes on but I don't think it is defrosting.
Node already answered this pretty well.

3. Rear wiper does not work for mist but works other times.
Bad relays in the wiper switch cluster - this fix is not for everyone.&nbsp Replacement relays can be purchased from DigiKey.&nbsp There's a write-up floating around for this one.&nbsp If you got no cash, you can try to clean the contacts on the relays, but this is not a permanent fix.

4. the hand brake indicator is on but my hand brake is all the way down.
As Gefunk mentioned, the BRAKE warning indicator also doubles as a low brake fluid warning.&nbsp You probably need to add more brake fluid to your reservior under the hood.

I have a 2 more noobie questions:

1. My front turn signal (under the ftp lens) needs to be changed, I unscrewed the signal and pulled of the lens but I am having trouble pulling the bulb out, is there an easy way to do this?

2. When I tunr on my headlights I noticed thtat the altenator starts to "squeal", is there something wrong with it?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
