Exclamation exhaust advice needed...

alright people, im a youngin, so just bare with me here.. alright, i have an 88 rx which is all stock so far, but i want to get rid of my 3 cats.. i would like to just like, run a pipe from my manifold, and then have a presilencer instead of a cat? and then have another pipe, and have that goto a glasspack... and then have the glass pack goto a Y...and out to maybe a dual exhaust... im not sure! im so confused and i need a little advice..thanks in advance..also, i was wondering if it would be ok to raise my idle a wee bit..maybe like, 100rpms, cuz it idles at like, 750..but somtimes i hear like a sputter in it, i dunno if its cuz im low on gas, or the idle.. aslo need help there.

Glass pack will burn out on a NA in a matter or hours, where you suggest.

They have the Bonez hiflow cat for 315 +20 for a gasket and bolt kit. Replaces your three cats with one.

If no emitions laws in your area then don't bother with the cat, just run a straight pipe off the manifold (or better yet, get a header) and have that go back to a Y pipe or run it single out one side. I have mine single out the passenger side, no cats, easy for any shop to do, cost me like $100 CDN to get the pipe made and put in with new muffler. My header is in the mail atm though. Anyways.....just my 2cents.

yeah, we have emisions laws here, because my moms cat is all dead, and the shops wont just take it off and put a straight through pipe thing, but i guess i could just put it on myself.. would a pre silencer be of any use? like, have a pipe come off the manifold to a pre silencer, then a straight pipe from the presilencer to a Y?

1st pic left:
Shows how the set up basically looks. OBX muffler 1 inlet & 2 outlets. Replaces the need for a "Y" pipe and replaces the cats

2nd pic left:
Is the silencer. From Benicia CA. $30 dollars

3rd pic left:
Shows the silencer connecting to the OBX muffler $40 used.

4th pic left:
Shows the PBX muffler from the side

5th pic left:
Stainless Steel Tip

All this costs $190 dollars

Go full stainless steel, it will save you money in the long run. Rotaries produce a lot of exhaust heat, and aluminized mufflers, and piping will fade quickly!! Basically do what was said above, keep the stock layout, but increase the size of the tubing, get a high flow stainless cat, run it to the y- pipe, and then into two mufflers of your choice. The HKS's are nice

if you have a straight pipe with a muffler... is it quieter to place the muffler at the back in the normal position or closer to the front where the y-pipe would be?
Thanks

Muffler

My muffler is installed in the place of the Catalytic Converter. Sounds the same to me.
