Which Exhaust?
Soon enough I will get an exhaust for my t2. The only mods it has are 720cc seconday injectors. Now, I know that the one auction is already over, but which one would be better?
Thanks,
-Eric

Okay, I keep getting an error when I try to edit my post, so I would like to add: If there is a better exhaust than these two that is just as affordable, please recommend it. I am looking for a full exhaust, not just a muffler.

After reading a few threads, I think I may just save up a little longer and get a racing beat exhaust. Any opinions on which one would be best for the money.

no you will not pass with the ss autochrome
well most likely not and the N1 you were looking at is almost just a muffler since it is catback
mainly for looks and sound and minimal performance

If you're looking for power just about all the performance turbo backs eliminate the catalytic converters. So NO you will not pass emmissions by just bolting on a "race" type turbo back like RB's setup. But you can make it pass with a simple "custom" cat being made at a shop. Find a 3" cat and buy two RB 80mm flanges and have the legs of the cat extended/shortened to fit for emissions testing.
A few words on the N1 and SSautochrome setups. The N1's are great quality, I can tell you that, but they sit skewed and pointing upwards which causes stupid problems like scraping the canisters when you're going over bumps or pulling into driveways. They are also LOUD and rather obnoxious unless you want to sound like all the other little "import" ricers running around every city. The only way to tone them down *a little* is to use the silencers that are ~40 dollars each and that means you're now running a 1.5 or 2" pipe instead of your actual exhaust piping.
The SSautochrome has been known to be made by a shitty company. Some say its "great" and all but its just a piping setup with a fart cannon muffler welded on the back. It will be loud and it will eventually break since the company seems to have general quality issues(see: SSautochrome turbo manifold theads....) Already you have one member here posting on that system's down fall from personal experience.
Buy Racing Beat, or rotary specific parts in general when you shop for performance parts. A lot of the companies that make the GOOD stuff are rotary or even Rx-7 specific manufacturers which need our support if we wish for high quality products to be made in the future for us. Its better to spend the extra money for RB and not sound like an a-hole around town and have it last longer than the car......

Yeah, the GT spec's got a pre-silencer built into it right around where it bolts up to the mid-pipe, so this is where it gets it's quietness/sound quality (for those that didn't know).
Is it true that the same company who makes SSautochrome, makes the Corksport? I read this somewhere, but I'm not positive... Anyone know?
I guess if you can afford it, RB is probably the way to go for a full turbo-back system...
Save your old catalytic converter/DP so that when the time comes to pass emissions, you can just bolt it back on and n00b "the man"... lol.

i have the ssautochrome 3" turbo back exhaust, it sounds nice, isn't too loud for my tastes. it's just pipes, seems like quality wouldn't matter too much but if you are so ******* **** than get the RB. btw my ssautochrome presilencer's seam did split open a little, but i plan on welding on a 3" glasspack instead of the 2.75" presilencer included. besides i don't think you can buy the ssautochrome exhaust for fc's anymore. my friend's civic has the ssautochrome header, although it didn't add much power it has held up fine for 20,000 miles so far.

And a header that didn't add much power? I bet it shows how much R&D they have behind their garbage that they call performance parts.
I wish more people wouldn't be so cheap and then go buy poor products.

Doesn't putting the silencer in the Apex'i catbacks make it sound really raspy and adds a lot of extra vibrations? Sort of like using a mute in a trumpet...
(I've only seen videos... but it sounded way better without the silencer IMO)
And isn't the GT louder than the N1?... Or are they both just loud as hell with an open exhaust?

my friends civic to me felt the same before and after install, but he said it was faster and he is more used to his car since i only drove it like once before and twice after or something. jager, i bought my ssautochrome exhaust for $200 dollars and then the presilencer cracked, so now i get a $40 3" straight through glass pack and weld it in place for like $20. then i get a $260 dollar exhaust system that is just as 'reliable'. and why the do you care what i do to my car jager, you wish more people would buy more reliable products <edited for unneeded comment>

I have the Apex N1 catback, and I have heard nothing accept other rotaries that sound anything like it. It is not a "fart can" at all. Assuming you use the RB presilencer it sounds pretty nice, just real loud. Honestly, I like the racing beat system a little better though. If you want to pass emmisions, you have to have a cat, its that simple. Also, do not get cheap parts, you get what you pay for. Rotarys like to eat exhaust parts, especially cheap ones. You need to get high quality parts like racing beat's to avoid constant leaks, etc.

The GT spec is a deep loud at WOT, but it's almost a "quiet loud", because the note is so low, you "feel" it more in your ears, rather than hear it.

Its ok to give out a recommendation, but you yourself have already proven is a poor product with your previous posts.

It's ok guys, he's just bitter he didn't do it right with the RB from the get go
Also another idea you might consider would be the HKS Sport cat back mated to RB header/presilencer. It doesn't look the "ricer" part, it looks fairly stock, but it opens up flow a lot more. It all just depends on the look you're going for..

Question: is the GT Spec left-side exit, or right-side exit?
I was kinda hoping for right-side (FD-ish), but, eh... most of the single-canister mufflers I've seen for the FC are left-side.
