Exaust Leak before O2 sensor

Ummm... I have heard that this has negative effects on the car and some of the info that is sent throught the CPU back to the air pump. Um just a little feedback would be nice, thanks.

Oxygen sensor gives information to the ECU. The CPU is on the whole not essential for the engine to work. It just affects lights, horn and other misc devices.
Oxyegen sensor, to the best of my knowledge(talk about hedging) has nothing to do with the air pump at all.
I doubt a small leak prior to the 02 sensor would effect the quality of the feedback of the 02 sensor to the ECU.

Sorry, I meant ECU. Manily what I am getting at is would this whole effect the car in ANY way? I don't believe it would however; I saw a while back when someone said it would but never said what it would do to the car. Well thanks for the help
