Exclamation EVERYONE!!!! This is a sweet way to get boost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.K. This is the coolest thing I've ever seen. A friend with a mustang did this to get the effect of a supercharger. It works! Instead of everyone taking the air pump off your N/A cars you can do a very cheap supercharger with it. Take the air pump and route it to the intake and with the stock air pump you get this super ram air set up that is good for 10-15 hp on a mustang. You can take the pully and put a huge one on there and you get up to 5psi boost like you would from turbo or a supercarger, except that you didn't spend any money on it and there are nmo other things to do to the car besides compensating for fuel. I will get the exact way to do this from the guy in a day or so so keep this thread alive. We can get the perfect little supercharger from our own figging air pump!!!! This is gonna be great!!!!!!!! I'll be back!

Nice Idea, but I'm skeptical of it being very effective like others would. Definately let us know what happens!

yeah this sounds like a cool idea, definitely post the info/procedure and everything. my air pump is just kind of sitting there right now doing nothing but looking pretty with a cheap filter in the end of it.

Thats like trying to air up your tire by blowing through a straw into the valve stem.

this ranks up there with attaching a leaf blower to your intake, the turbozet, and the spiralmax... there is no such thing as cheap horsepower..

This works great on a go-kart, but doesn't have near enough flow for a car-sized engine. Don't waste your time.

You would. of course, have to mount the output before the AFM.
If you actually wanted boost, you would have to put a huge 2" check valve in front of it so the pressure doesn't just blow out the filter.
At best, it would be like putting on a high-flow air intake, there would be no restriction, actually some positive pressure. (maybe 1 billionth of a PSI)

If you were talking about actually routing ALL your air intake through the air pump, you are nuts. There is nowehere NEAR enough flow in that thing.

hmmm, that is a good idea, but i agree w/ the rest, doesn't it put out a tiny amount of air? Yea w/ a ten foot in diameter pulley sure it could do something.

Says you Bambam7,
This maybe so on a RX-7 airpump with not near enough flow but I have seen this work. He gets 3 1/2-4psi from the boost guage in his mustang. I will try this If I come across another N/A. Of course some things will have to change like fuel, The size of the air pump intake and such But This works for him And I want to see this work on an RX-7. I'll get all the stuff this dude had to do as soon as I can.

Maybe the Air Pump on the Ford flows way more than the Wheez that the Mazda one is capable of.

Well then I might just get a ford one and "make" it compatable with the rex. I will try this and tell all. Might even do a how to for thoughs who can't aford a turbo or supercharger.

And a picture of how he set it up

dude why dont you get some nawz for you lawnmower... that airpump doesnt move NEARLY enuff air to even do anything.... think about how much air even a honda moves at idle put your hand over the intake it nearly wants to suck your hand in.... now think about your 150hp rotary.. at 7krpms..... do you think that lil airpump is gonna move over at least 150cfms? i surely think not...

Doesnt the hose from the air pump ALREADY go into the intake? or am I seeing things? I mean, one hose comes from the lower intake to the air pump, then it goes from the air pump to the stock air box.
Maybe Im not quite understanding what you guys are talking aboot.
You want to route the air pump FROM where INTO where?

You actually saw 3lbs boost on a boost gauge hooked up to the intake of a Mustang using a stock air pump as a supercharger???

I think someone is smoking too much crack.

Perhaps he has his boost sensor hooked up to the airpump output and not the actual intake manifold of the car. Whats the vacuum reading at lift throttle?

He is pulling a fast one on you.

1) Is that an Autometer boost gauge?
2) Why is he running a boost gauge on his NA???

Wouldn't you want a smaller pulley, thus a higher rotational speed? And even so, are you seriously expecting it to flow enough?
