i just got the double cat system. They wouldn't give me a straight answer on if would pass California emissions, but its definitely 49 state legal.
edit: if you get the dual cat system its going to look like the single cat system, just as a heads up.

However, its not CARB approved, so you should still fail the visual if the tech notices it.

My car likes to backfire when i shift too when I shift or let off the gas, this is a streetported s4 na.
My car has no catalytic converter and has a straight pipe 2.5" in place of it , I also have racing beat headers and a borla catback exhaust, my 5/6 ports are removed.
When I redline I go up to about 7500 rpm, I'm sure my car shoots flames though I have no proof it has.

However, they aren't supposed to let you through with ANY emissions tampering that doesn't have a CARB number, whether it passes or not. That includes anything other than the stock 3 cats....even if you have all three but they are the wrong brand you are supposed to fail on the visual.

is the streetport really worth it? i was doing research cus im thinking about doing it when i rebuild my engine. did you notice the powerloss in the lower rpm's? sorry to drill you with questions i would rather ask someone who has it done and is driving it.

Is the dual Bonez cat system legal in CALIFORNIA if bolted to a Racing Beat Catback exhaust system?
What I'm trying to ask is if the CARB and everything is completely legal on that system. I don't see why one brand would pass while the other wouldn't... unless they havn't had their equipment certified? Also, can the Bonez main cat Race Pipe that goes in place of the catalytic converters interchange with the duel Bonez catback exhaust system? So if I wanted to throw it on real quick, would it take the place of the duel cats perfectly?

No, its NOT CARB legal. It will pass the sniffer test, and the tech probably wont notice to fail you yet, but its technically not a legal mod.
In california, any aftermarket engine parts that aren't CARB certified are not legal. And getting something carb certified supposedly requires a great deal of red tape and cost to get....so most parts manufacturers just skip it.
