But to get that personal record done with and then building from there is worth it in my eyes. To get it into the books is one accomplishment, not to mention not many people in the community have done Bonneville in an FC.
The fastest I have gone on the pavement was 168mph, and I was riding shotgun. It did not take very long for that FD to get up to that speed, and the driver was still in 4th gear and still had around 1500rpm's left to go. I am sure the FD is capable of 200mph easily, but it would need alot of safety equipment, better tires and brakes.

i've been thinking of building a bonneville FC also. 400RWHP is easy to break 200MPH, in fact i think most people do too much overkill to their setups in an effort to not come up short power wise and then they wind up with traction issues and weight distribution that is whacky because there is too much crap in the engine bay and not enough on the back of the car.

RB went 190mph with an NA in an SA22 chassis http://www.racingbeat.com/pdf/rbhistory.pdf
in 85 they went 238mph in a stock body FC with 530hp (on engine #3!)
obviously there are some hurdles, but its been done

OP You are in Atlanta why not ditch the salt flat idea and try the Miami Mile? It is a 1 mile sprint from a standing start on an airport runway. Asphalt = traction and hitting 200 in 1 mile would be an admirable feat.
Last time around a Toyota Celica hit 202 MPH, IIRC.

do they time you, or are you timing yourself? is love to go. i need to get a role cage welded in to my car, new seats, and a harness and some other **** before i even try too haull my *** down there.

i read that article a few months ago, obviously the car wasn't weighed down properly as i said in my earlier post. the car also probably had a steep boost power curve which also made it very difficult to get up to speed while maintaining control for a novice driver. luckily he didn't destroy the car but he did come close...

I did the calculation once, just using basic CdA without any effects from the wheels spinning it was 417whp IIRC. I think you are smart to do this in steps, see how the car feels at increasing speeds and address any issues before trying to go faster. A crash at that kind of speed can remove you from the gene pool pretty easily.
All that said, I can tell you from experience that my FC feels stable and has good traction at an indicated 165mph. I expect to do 200+ one of these days but I made a promise not to go any faster than 165 unless I did all the safety stuff and I haven't got around to it yet.

Any measures that Racing Beat did for aerodynamics would not be easily visible. Most of the gains can be found in the wheel covers, pieces underneath to direct air flow away from the wheels (the top of the wheels are moving through the air at an insane 400+ mph), smoothing out the underside and streamlining the flow through and around the radiator. The body is not easy to improve, especially without a wind tunnel.
As for how much power you need, it is roughly proportional to velocity cubed. So 200 mph might require (200/240)^3 ~= 60% as much power as 240 mph.

forgot about this thread? hell no man. im prepping the car to go do the 150 mph first. then when i learn more about it, ill bust the 200 mph.
do they time you, or are you timing yourself? is love to go. i need to get a role cage welded in to my car, new seats, and a harness and some other **** before i even try too haull my *** down there.

so far, i had fd wheels put on with some falken 452's.
better shocks and speings (used but still... better than what i had)
front sway bar.
im going to pop in the new radiator, and new brake rotors for the front.
then... the mother of them all... my new transmission. i cant get my damn exhaust unbolted cus the bolts are seized. ill get my body builder friend to crack them things off for me. othere than that, im good to go.

i did 140 mph i the span of a mile. better than almost all the 4 bangers, and 6 bangers. nice.
the thing is, i have t2 calipers on an s5 gtu MC. they dont stop well at all, so what i did to slow the hell down from 140 mph was.... roll down my window. youd be surprised at how much that stopped the car from 140 down to 100.
