Entire car smells like gas CAN'T FIND SOURCE!
hello guys.
<-- owner of a 88 n/a gxl rx7.
Premixing,
One cat 10 year old all rusted exhaust.
SMALL Street ported engine, stock eveything...
NO A/C left all the a/c line holes open...
I have two major problems.
1. The entire car smells liek gas 24/7 im talking like gas all the time, it has the stock injectors and everything all the vacccum lines blah blah blah... like i said the a/c holes are al open could that be bringing the gas smell in the car? I bought new pulsation damper will be installed tommorw just in case any of you guys thought that was the problem, which afte rchecking the one i have now is not leaking so it cant be that.
2. Defrost does not work for me at all... the heater seems to only work a lil bit only while im on gear... and it only blows a lil bit of hot air.
Any help with either of these problems will be greatly appreciated thanx guys and sorry for having to add anotehr wortheless thread.

check list:
charcoal canister - take it out of engine bay and examine it for cracks and what not
gas cap - no one ever seems to mention this, look at the (o-ring) seal for cracks and deformation
injector o-ring and grommet - might as well replace this since ur gonna do the PD and ofcourse might as well change the two fuel hoses that are connected to the primary and secondary fuel rails. buy the o-rings (like 4.99 for a pack of 4) and 2 feet of 3/8 (1.99) fuel hose from Autozone and the grommets from the dealer (2.00 a piece X 4) the injector caps are special order.
btw ur ac lines wouldnt bring in the smell unless its crazy rigged then maybe just maybe

oh and ur defrost for the back window or front?
well on ur front, its probably a bad blower motor. be more specific on it. when u move it from high to low, does it go high to low? also maybe the level is broken for the cool to heat level. does it slide smoothly back and forth or just shoots across when u move it?
on the back window, check fuses, check the defrost lines on window for breaks and check the connection between the the electrical wires and the window defrost lines. (excuse me for non-technical terms.)

Install the fuel check connector jumper. Turn the key to ON. Wait thirty minutes or until you see the fuel dripping under the car or where ever. No drops after thirty minutes.....probably not a fuel leak.

Inspect area around Intake manifolds (Pulsation Damper)
This is a common failure point on 2nd generation Rx-7's
And it can be detrimental to your cars life IE Car will catch on fire and burn as you watch and can do nothing about it.
I replace my PD every 50k or so. Just to be safe. Hey you never know
