enkei 16 inch import tunner racing rims with 40/205/16 toyo rubber... 1000.00 ??

enkei 16 inch import tunner racing rims with 40/205/16 toyo rubber... 1000.00 ??

i'm picking up some enkei import tunner racing rims with brand new rubber 40 series profile, i put them up to my car and the tires are about 1 inch smaller than my old ones, asa 15/205/60's. what will this effect, good or bad.. and is that a good deal for rims and rubber or what...?? 1000.00 canadian

What are they coming off of? Sounds like a Honda with those puny lil tires.

They'll make your speedo off a little bit (fast).

Not really he is going to 16" rims from what he is saying here, he will only be off about a mhp or 2

It's not the rim diameter, it's the tire diameter that counts.

And with smaller diameter tires, the car will travel less distance per revolution. This means the car will be going slower than the speedometer reports - the speedo will be reading too high by a LOT. 205/40-16 is really not enough tire to support the weight of your car, either... handling will be degraded because of this.

Subjectively it'll look awful too, like driving around on four temporary spares.

There is hope, though.... buy four new 205/55-16 tires for the rims, which is the same size as Turbo II, and sell the 205/40's to someone with a Civic or a Focus or other car that would take that small of a tire. 205/40-16 is really too small even for a 1st-gen RX-7...

the rim size counts too, he is moveing up an inch in rim size so he he went to 205/45 or 50 the speedo should be right on.
