i bought my 1991 n/a with 76k miles on it, never had any problems until about 175k, then the cat converters clogged up. then started to lose compression at 190k.

when i started out, i didn't even know what a rotary engine was, let alone that my car had one or how to take care of it. i'm sure my engine would have lasted longer if i had it from day one and knew what to do.

i put in a new engine at that point and it's my daily driver. i'm expecting it last 250+ now that i know how to care for it.

Some questions about performance too. I know even an N/A could smoke an integra or CRX right? My friends got those cars. Those are both standard models of course, not vtec.

But could it smoke even a vtec, no mods to either car? BTW, it will be my daily driver car.

I used to have a CRX with a DOHC 1.6L ZC Non-Vtec and I had a couple of friends with N/A's mostly stock, but one had some mods. Every time we would race I could beat the non-modded N/A without a problem, but the modded one would give me a real good run. Remember though the CRX dosen't weigh very much.
"Power to weight ratio" I would say that stock N/A; probobly not much of a chance if the Hondas/Acuras are modded. However if you did your bolt-ons to the N/A you could kick some ***! But it ultimately comes down to the driver.

Yep, although I do own and love a '92 TII (which is perfect, btw), if you want a daily driver that you will abuse, drive the **** out of, maintain it easy, AND be able to beat all sorts of other cars on the road, then a RX7 NA is your best bet, when rotaries are concerned...

I'll have to agree though, a nice '91 CRX (SOHC or DOHC) is hella fast, VERY reliable, can go 200K with no problems (despite what everyone here says), and will beat almost every non-modded mid-range "sports" car out there (notice the quotes )

You could find it for dirty cheap, do some nice mods (also cheap), and be hitting 14s all day long easily...

I don't think that you can get a new engine, and if you did it would probably cost you over $6,000, which is about the price of an excellent-running TII. A rebuilt 13B NA with a warranty sells for about $2,000 plus a $500 core charge. You may also want to consider paying the extra $200-300 for street porting.

My 87 turbo II has 120,000 and is still pulling as hard as ever. Minus some hose replacements, other than that its great. BUT, im rebuilding it soon anyway, anyone selling any 13BT rebuild kits?
