engine turns but not in car?!?!?!?!

Well today i installed my engine in my car!! What GREAT FEELING!!! Crank it a few times and it turns over without hit hitch> whoo hoo i think to myself!!! Smoke a cig and come back to try it again and nothing the starter just clicks. Oh well it must be the starter i think.
But before i do i decide to try and crank it over by hand on the crank pulley.... Turns a lil then stops WTF! So i try it the other way with the same results.
So i think i dropped something down in the engine. So i pull the engine and try to take off my clutch and the everything rotates just fine????
HELP ME!!! The engine is a cosmo 2 rotor 13b and i have just realized i forgot to put the pilot bushing in could this cause this??????
Thanx in advance!

I doubt it - even if it did, then it would be fixed now when you put the pilot bushing back in. Was the engine hard to seperate from the tranny when you pulled it out the second time?

were you able to hear compression when you turned the motor by hand? Also just as a test, try putting the tranny in netural and turning the input shaft by hand and see if there is an issue there.

You had the tranny in neutral when you tried to turn the motor right?
