Engine (turbo) management system question

If any of you are familiar with SAAB trionic or APC control systems you will probably know that there are very strict measures which control engine boost on turbo saab cars, one of the best so Ive heard, specifically saab designed a base and max boost presure system. My saab has a base boost of 4-5 lbs and a max boost of 10 lbs. Simply, saabs rapidly open and close the waste gate to maintain boost at different levels. along with numerous sensors like TPS, crank, map, knock, air temp, all those. Its so advanced I dont even really understand it myself... Basically any turbo saab has 2 computers, one for the engine and one for controlling boost pressure.

My question is, how good is the electronic managment system on a 1987 t2? What controls the waste gate actuator? Is it strickly boost to like 5 pounds and then open gate?? Or is it more strictly controlled from sensors like the Map sensor. Are there specific computer functions dedicated to controling the boost??

Talking

Oh yeah, it's real sophisticated. You have a hose connected to the boost side of the turbo which opens the wastegate at about 5.5 psi via an arm attached to a diaphram. (NO electronics here, stricktly mechanical.) Sorry to disappoint you.

Which is why I want the haltech and it's extensions. Boost is constant on the OEM setup, but I want quicker spool.

Hmmm

Woww that is actually really disapointing. I cant believe the rx7 turbo setup is so simple, but I guess everything about a rotary is pretty simple.

I guess I will have to be careful if I wanna increase the boost.

The system works well, but you need some type of boost controller to control the boost well.
