Question engine trouble, help?

Just trying to garner everyone's thoughts on a problem I'm having. I've gotten a few solutions from various places, but none that quite address my issue.

I have an 86 Rx-7 NA. I had to replace all of the hoses on it as the previous owner didn't treat her too well.

I did not know about the restrictor pill in the two vacuum lines. They have since gone with all the other scraps.

I have been told that the item only exists on turbos, and then told that it is on the NA's as well. Can I get a definite answer? I'm researching this as I am having problems with the engine cutting out, and it seems like it's running rich just before it cuts. Which would correspond with the pill being missing.

I'd like to see what the cumulative IQ of this group can offer.

Thanks in advance!

NA's do have the pill going to the boost sensor - I've personally dug it out of NA vacuum lines myself.

Really, it just helps with smoothness a bit - it's not a HUGE difference.

Call up Mazdaformance (banner ad up top) and order one - it's like a few cents. It's cheap enough to go ahead and install.

What he said. TIIs have several pills (boost sensor, wastegate line), but NAs only have the 1 at the boost sensor. It is not critical, and most people completely forget about it when replacing the hoses.

What is the problem you are having that is being attributed to that pill?

Really rough idle. It will idle for 10-15 mins on it's own, then once it's warmed up it tries to die. If I give it gas, it will hold. I don't have any exhaust on it past the O2 sensor, so the loudness might be skewing my perception of rough idle. I can't set my timing because I can't find the timing marks. I have yet to set the TPS.

In the process of troubleshooting why it's not on the road. Again thanks for the help.
