engine timing?I searched
I am not sure how to time my engine. I set the timing gun to 5 deg and connected the spark thing to one of the leading plug wires and I'm still not sure what to do. I tried moving the cas back and fourth and it didn't look like the it was lining up.
can anyone give me some tips?

1. I believe that you are only supposed to use a vehicle powered timing light... From what I understand; If you use a self powered timing gun it will not set the timing correctly...
2. You have to connect the lead from the timing gun to the leading wires on each coil... There is a timing notch or mark for each coil... Mine does not line up perfect either... I just tried to get them (each mark for each coil) to match as much as possible...
3. There is another way that is described somewhere in the forum; where if you remove the CAS and turn the engine by hand yadda yadda... I am just to lazy for that unless I absolutely have to do it that way... I am sure that way is much more accurate though...
****Dont forget that you have to have an idle at 700 rpm when in drive with the break on and the vehicle must be at running temp... Oh yeah... When turning the CAS, dont get your fingers caught in the belt...****

Don't adjust anything on the timing gun - leave it on "0".
Hook up the inductive pick-up and either the leadings and look for the leading timing mark on the pulley.
Adjust the CAS to line the mark with the pin.
