engine swap problems

i bought a 1989 gtu turbo 2 conversion and it ran perfect and then i totalled it. the motor still ran perfect after the wreck. then i bought another 89 GTUs. I swapped the motor, ecu, fuel pump. When i go to start it, it just turns over. when i put the key in the run position, i can hear fuel just recirculating through the motor. the motor has larger injectors and i think the fuel pressure regulator may be shot because i dont think the rail is getting enough pressure to pop the injectors off. Im not an expert by any means. Is it normal for it to cycle like that? everyone i call just says take it to a specialist and all this other crap. anyways if anyone can help, id appreciate it. -ryan

1st rule of ALL troubleshooting is check for physical connectivity, especialy in the case of a swap like this. Double check everything is connected properly. Then start troublshooting what might be defective. Is it getting fuel and spark? check both.

If those troublshootings dont work search the boards first, then ask a specific question.

ok the run pressure is 39 psi (fuel). and it only starts when u clamp the fuel return line and block it off. the problem is fuel oriented. so please help me.

clogged injectors? the clamping of the fuel return line might be boosting the fuel pressure and squirting just enough fuel through to start it? Im not really sure but thats my best guess.
