engine swap. need advice.

i have a 88 rx7 GXL i got for $200 canadian and there is relay nothing wrong with it at all except its slow as ***, like 0-60 is probably 15-20 sec... the car sat for 2 years and probably had the **** driven out of it...well anyways i have a friend who can get me pretty much any rotary engine i want. my Q is what engine would be the easiest to put it but still be better than the stock one... i was thinking about a 3rd gen engine (more hp right??) but will that be easy to do..also will there be alot of stuff i would have to replace if i were to put a twin turbo engine in it?

thanks aot

Joe

Holy **** there Turbo. First off you should search and see what you are getting into. The easiest bang for the buck would be doing an S5 N/A motor swap. As far as turbo engines go i would try to get hold of an S5 TII motor and rebuild it and slap it in. Run a search and you should find out the ins and outs of all swaps available including the REW swap (3rd gen) but im going to tell you it might cost over 7-8 grand to do that swap.

Wow, that's cheap. I thought that the 13B-REW was harder or just as hard as a 20B. The 20B supposed to be like 15k+ for a swap.

The 13B-REW's motor mounts are the same as the 13B, the engine that you currently have. So that swap is a long, hard, expensive one.

Good luck with the car. Still looking for mine.

the easiest would be an 87-88 13bt engine. but far from easy...

ahahahahahahaha........ that would take about as much work as above. and for a gain of 10hp...

stick with the same series it'll be alot easier... and stay the hell away from the 3rd gen engine.

but anything other then the stock n/a engine is gona be ALOT or work and you'll need to get alot of parts.
