Engine Swap...

I have an 88 GXL w/ a blown motor, and just recently aquired an 86 base model 7. The engine in it was recently rebuilt, along with the 5 speed transmission. The bad part about it is there's 300k miles on the body and its taken its toll on the exterior as well as the interior. My GXL is in great condition aside from the motor and automatic transmission, not to mention the obvious advantages (4 piston calipers, LSD, 5 lug, etc.). I've looked around and I cant find anything on 13b swaps, so im wondering if the motor and tranny swap is pretty much just plug and play since their both s4's and I would be swapping the tranny as well as the motor. Other than the driveshaft what else would I need to pull out of my 86 to put into the 88. Any advice or links to posts with a guide would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to find all the info you need here:
http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2ndgen/techmenu.html

Search button works too.

From what I've read it should all be plug & play since its all s4.

Will need tranny cross member if going from auto to manual transmission. Along with the hydraulics for it. Clutch, pressure plate...

The two motors are identical the physical nature is unbolt and bolt in.

There is some electrical changes. The simplest way to do this would be to use the injectors off the motor that originally was packaged in the car. DO not swap any other electrical but the injectors and it will work fine.

I read the auto > 5 speed swap on Rotary Resurection and saw that the crossmembers for the 2 tranny's dont match. The instructions he gave to make the adapter didn't really clarify what its purpose was. Kinda confusing if you look at the pictures it doesn't really appear to do anything. Anybody have any experience doing a 5 speed swap?
