Engine Starts, Idles at About 1800 Cold, Then Dies When Warm. Also How To Set Timing?
its an 86 GXL stock except for intake rebuilt motor....i was wondering if anyone can find the write-up for the timming. my car doesnt have the timming mark. i read it somewhere where it tell me how to time it with out the timming mark but now i cant find it...i want to double check the timming . When i got the car to running i dont hear any misfire do i assume that the timming might be correct.. but correct me if im wrong....i got the engine to start sometime but when it stated it would idle at about 1800 rpm and then when it got warm the engine would just die.. and then i cant get it to start again...i have to wait until the engine is cold to do it again.. i got new spark plug.. i use my old spark plug wire which is accel 8mm wire which is about only 4 month old...check and got fuel and oil pressure. and also got spark too. I was thinking that do i have to keep on pressing the the gas peddle when it started and let it idle while pressing on the gas to keep it running...he car has been sittiing for about 2 month now almost 3. i toold off the omp and premix because one of the line broke so i decided to go premix forever,,, i check and seem that i got all the vac and everything hook up right.. but the only thing now that i need to know is do i have to keep on pressing on the gas until it can idle on its own or something. any help would help me out alot...i look and cant find any...i only got a little piece at a time....

Does the BAC (Bypass Air Control Valve - controls idle speed ) work correct ?
If not and you cant fix it, maybe adjust the idle at the throttle,
so the throttle doesnt close completely any more.
Hm , but this might be harsh to drive, thinking of deceleration.

the eshaft pulley has a timing marks on it i couldnt find the mark on mine either but one of the bolts on the pulley is offset and that will point u in the right direction. just find a expoded view of the pulley and the crank to find tdc. if that doesnt work u can always get it in the ball park using the counterweight on the flywheel or the notch key on the front of the eshaft.............
there are a few write ups on no timming marks here try searchn for them
it sounds like the engine is getn tired if it wont hold a idle below 1800

actually when it warms up and i dont keep it pass 1200 rpm it would die down so i have to keep on pressing the gas paddle to keep it stay running....but once its die then i wont be able to get it running again...its rarely that i would get it to start with just turning the key.

Are you sure you don't have any vacuum leaks?
As for timing, it is marked on the pulley. It's painted from the factory but the paint wears off so look for two notches in the pully closest to the engine. Looking from the front, rightmost is leading, leftmost is trailing.
