Engine starts, cuts off..
So if a 89 gtu's engine starts and then cuts off seconds later, what could be the issue besides the fuel pump? looking to get this car, and fix it up.
"1989 mazda rx7 for sale. the car has 150..... on the body and it only has 15 thousands on the new engine. yess it has a new engine with only 15 thousands on it, i have the paper works for it, one owner the car has been parked for a few years now it turns on and it cuts off, it may just need a fuel pump. the car has many new parts and i have the paper work to go with it. new engine, new clutch, new brakes, new tires, and many more parts. the car does NOT run right now, it turns on for a few second then it cuts off. I do not have the time to work on this car. very clean on inside no rips no dents at all"

usually it is caused by a number of vacuum leaks, possibly a faulty AFM but the series 5 AFMs rarely fail compared to the S4.
these problems usually arise after someone had been monkeying around on top of the engine and forgot to hook up some lines.
and last but not least, be sure it has gas in the tank...

sounds like a bad maf, or a massive vac leak, could be fuel pressure too. stick a fuel pressure gauge on there if you can, and check voltage at your pump. should be voltage with key on.
